The first Messy Church of the New Year takes the theme 'Jonah and the Whale'. You can expect to have a whale of a time (and I daresay there'll be a few more jokes of that sort).
Our church is led by our Minister, Rev Pauline Sparks and a team of Elders. This year we ordained three new Elders and inducted one who has served our Eldership previously.
Following the success of the first Week of Accompanied Prayer, Petts Wood Churches Together are organising another. The week will be held between 28th February and 5th March and a taster session will be held at Christ Church on Sunday 17th January between 15.00 - 16.00. Our Sunday School (we call it the Church of Youth) will hold a Funday School event on 14th June 2015 at 10.30am. We are looking forward to welcoming children to join one of our fun groups for a taste of what we do, week by week, on Sunday mornings.
Using a wide variety of media including graphics, art and craft, dance, music and drama we aim to teach children the basics of the Christian faith in a fun way and in the process, help to instill some of the values which will help them in the choices that they will have to make as they grow up. Christ Church support Christian Aid in their aim to 'make poverty history'. Next week we and our partner churches in Petts Wood, in common with worshippers from churches the length and breadth of the UK will visit as many homes in our area as possible to offer you the chance to be part of that goal. If you don't receive an envelope, we have spares available at the church and you're welcome to collect one for your contribution.
We join all the Christians in the world, greeting each other and spreading the Good News to all the world: Happy Easter. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed!
Our sister church - St John's in Orpington has a thriving Scout Group. They are trying to recruit leaders at the moment for the 14-18year olds and the letter we publish here from the current leader, Jon Henderson, gives background to this exciting and interesting opportunity.

The Fellowship and Hospitality Working Group organised a lunch for the congregation and the ovens were working overtime as fifty-five sat to eat together.
Messy Church is all (to some extent!) about letting your imagination run wild and then expressing it by glueing some cardboard boxes together. Join us as this month we explore together the connection between Easter and eggs, fluffy chicks, bunnies etc.

Discipleship Explored is a course designed to give you the time and space to think about what it means to live the Christian life. It is an 8-week journey through Paul’s letter to the Philippian believers, with DVD presentation given by Barry Cooper, co-writer of Christianity Explored.
